Fleas

   The most common fleas encountered in Florida are probably cat fleas.  Fleas have the ability to survive for many months without food, they can remain in suitable areas for long periods time waiting for dinner,  which usually is your cat,  your dog,  or you.

 Adult AMERICAN DOG TICKS are chestnut-brown with white spots or streaks on their backs.  Unfed adults are about 1/8 inch long;  engorged females become slat-gray and may expand to a length of 1/4 inch.    

Adult BROWN DOG TICKS are reddish-brown.  Unfed adults are 1/8  to 3/16 inch long; engorged females are about 1/2-inch long.
